About

Hello, and welcome!  Thank you so much for coming to my website.

My name is Randy Calligan.  I live on the west coast, just southwest of Portland Oregon in the rolling hills of wine country.  Even though I play several musical instruments and have performed all over the United States, I’ve never envisioned myself as much a performer as a writer.  I’ve recorded in several studios in Los Angeles and Chicago, but writing original material is my true passion.  I have written all of the music and lyrics contained on this website.

I received my masters degree in “Writing Music for the Media” from https://thinkspaceeducation.com/ in Great Britain.  And finally, I am frequently honored to have guest performers sing or play on specific tracks.

The website is divided into categories:

  • Soundtracks: Usually melodic themes for imaginary film.
  • Vignettes:  Same as above, but usually shorter.  Many times these will have multiple melodic themes.
  • Songs with Lyrics: Self explanatory
  • Experimental: This page is reserved for strange oddities and misfit toys.  It’s mostly pieces Ive written for plays, or music that wandered way off from the beaten path.  For example I began working on what I call collage music.  Imagine a collage of images, usually images that have nothing to do with one another in a logical sense, except when they’re grouped together they seem to create some sort of subliminal narrative or story.  And perhaps each viewer imagines that story in their own way.  I’ve taken several disparate pieces of music and connected them in an attempt to create the auditory version of a collage.

My Daughter Lacey sings on several songs.  I am sure you will agree, she has a rare gift that enables the listener to feel something when she sings.
